PicoSure delivers ultra-short bursts of energy in trillionths of a second. This creates the patented PressureWave that physically shatters tattoo ink particles without burning the surrounding skin or tissue.
Ink particles shattered into microscopic fragments
The PressureWave breaks ink into tiny dust-like particles far smaller than what traditional Q-switched lasers achieve. The result is significantly better clearance in fewer sessions including for colours previously very difficult to remove.

What to expect at Laser Skin Centre
Our accredited laser technicians assess your tattoo including ink colours, depth, size, location, and your skin type. We explain the PicoSure removal process in full including expected number of sessions, realistic outcomes, aftercare requirements, and any risks specific to your skin. You will never be pressured to proceed.
Each session takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes depending on the size and location of your tattoo. A cooling device is used during treatment for your comfort. You may experience redness and mild swelling that typically resolves within a few hours. Sessions are spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart for best results.
After each session your immune system continues to flush shattered ink particles out of your body for weeks. This means your tattoo keeps lightening between appointments. Your technician monitors your progress at each visit and adjusts your treatment protocol as your results develop.

This creates a photomechanical rather than photothermal impact, physically shattering ink into microscopic particles without burning surrounding tissue. Laser tattoo removal can be uncomfortable. We use a cooling device throughout treatment to help manage discomfort. The sensation is often described as similar to a rubber band flicking against the skin though everyone's tolerance is different. We use high quality post-care products to support safe and comfortable healing after each session.
There is minimal downtime. It is common for the treated area to appear red and to swell immediately after treatment and this typically resolves within a few hours. Some clients experience temporary skin blistering. Most clients are able to return to their normal activities the same day. Strenuous exercise and direct sun exposure should be avoided for the period outlined in your aftercare instructions.

PicoSure is estimated to remove approximately 95% of most tattoos. The colour and design fade progressively over multiple sessions. Results vary between individuals and tattoo types. Some tattoos achieve complete clearance while others may retain a faint shadow. Your technician will discuss realistic expectations for your specific tattoo at consultation.
Sessions are typically spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart for best results. This interval allows your body time to flush away the shattered ink particles before the next session. Rushing treatments does not improve outcomes and the spacing is important for both safety and effectiveness.
Sun protection is essential. Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher daily and avoid direct sun exposure for the period outlined in your instructions.
